Fireworks Cancelled

The Rotary Club of Burney announced today that, for the first time in almost 40 years,  the fireworks program scheduled for Saturday, July 5^th at the Burney High School football field will not take place.The large number of fires burning in Shasta County and throughout the state have made it impossible to guarantee even the minimum number of apparatus and personnel required to assure fire safety at the event.It is with deep regret that we do this, but in the interest of community safety, we believe it is the right decision. Speaking at the Rotary meeting on Thursday, Superintendant of Schools, Larry Snelling said, “We can do the easy thing or we can do the right thing.”The Rotary Club wants to thank all those who have supported this event.
